80 lbs is plenty and you will save money by not having to buy a third battery. I really don't know how Motorguide stays in business with the technology Minn Kota has

I pulled crankbaits for over 6 hours today with my Ultrex on my RT188c, ran the batteries totally out. Be sure to learn how to use the cruise control and auto pilot quickly!

    I like mine.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

So when you are making your trails with this motor can you change the speed or does it have to stay on the speed the trail was set to. Hope that made sense. lol

With cruise control you set the target speed and can change at any time. Same with the heading, it will go the direction you set until you change it.

You’ll love it... greatest motor made to date... only con to it is the steering housing is cheap metal and will easily break off if you hit a stump head on at long lining, pushing or cranking speeds. Needs some sort of break away mount...
other than that flaw.. it’s exactly what every versatile fisherman needs

If you snap it off it's 412$. Yes I've done it already at Truman. Of course it was the beginning of the spawn and I missed the rest of it waiting on parts.
Really needs a break away like you said.

Brian, I've even laid the trail using the big motor going 5 or 6 mph with the trolling motor deployed but not running (or maybe it was at the lowest speed?) Got the trail recorded in a hurry, then you go back and run with the trolling motor at whatever speed you want. Which is nice...indeed, a necessity...cuz wind/weight would change the whole thing if recorded your speed.

Well if it can be broke I can do it. Lol. Thanks for all the advice and tips, still waiting for it to show up.
I hit a stump so hard with my Maxxum the shaft flexed under my boat and broke the prop. Lol. The unbreakable shaft didn't break but I bent the aluminum pipe that went through the head. Took it apart a straightened it, guess I will have to baby this one.
Wish they made a stump detector!
