Great job Greg not sure about your outfit though them shorts are special. I need some help with throwing one of those nets going to give killing shad a try one of these days.

Richard.... Ill have you know, i was wearing kaki shorts...... my buddy is the one with the sense of fashion. You should see the whole outfit! I think it was gay pride week. Lol!
And I’d be happy to teach you the ways of the river rat! but I’ve only drifted lakes a few times so no promises on actually catching anything!

Sounds great I just need it to be open when it lands. All I can manage is a lump of weights followed by net. Well I guess you have the option of laying it off on a buddy I blame Paul all the time.

Right now the river is too high but usually I put in on the cobblestones by the graffiti wall if I’m fishing mid day. You don’t want to leave your rig there once it starts getting dark tho. Some guys use flam city on the Meramec and run upriver. Some use Columbia bottoms and lock through chain of rocks canal. A word of warning tho, there is a LOT of commercial traffic downtown, barges going downriver are virtually silent and any big vessels steaming upriver make really big wakes, and the river can go from calm to dangerous in a flash!

It isn’t Paul’s fault your throwing taco’s! But if you “accidentally” whack him with the weights one good time, he won’t laugh at you so much!

Yeah I know all about that stuff. I have been running the river around Columbia bottoms and alton for about 20 years. The fishing on the Missouri river has been down hill for about 10 years. Barges going up the Missouri can make a heck of a wave.

I live in Washington so I know how much fishing pressure the Missouri gets. The rod and reel fishing on the Missouri is very dependent on water levels and time of year. I agree that it has been tough with the constant high water we have been seeing.
The barge wakes downtown are comparable to what I see on the Missouri. Except usually they go by one at a time on the big muddy and downtown there maybe a couple loaded barges and a half dozen tugs going back and forth. The empty tugs are usually worse than a loaded barge. And the larger private vessels we sometimes see are worse yet. Be careful out there man!
