    Default Truman Tips

What are the conditions to look for when fishing timber on Truman this time of year? There is so much timber on this lake, I'm a little overwhelmed.

I fish the lower end of the little pomme arm, normally put in at fairfield.

I've only been a few times and have not had much luck. A couple here and there.

I tried this afternoon and fished deep timber for an hour or so but didn't catch anything.

I eventually went to pulling cranks around the humps near KK island, there were 3 other boats in the area doing the same thing. Caught two small crappie and 3 small blues.

On the plus side, I didn't see a single wake boat or jet ski, cant say the same for Stockton.

was told by an expert to find the right tree's to fish. different species at different times of year. in may it was cedars and bodart? trees that held them. kevin says what just happened when you catch one, depth and species and then repeat it.

I will agree on the plus side you just said. I went to Pomme de terre this weekend because Truman had the crappie masters going on and it was not my kind of lake. Way too many people skying, jet skis etc.

You probably would be better on the main lake flats for summer.
no use fishing every tree. Look them over and pick a lone tree.
always try the cedars especially single trees.

Left them Sunday on main lake flats right off the channel edges fishing clumps of any type of tree. If you caught one, you caught at least two others. We were about 8-12' down in 15-25 feet of water fishing minnows on a 1/8th oz. jig head.

Move a lot, if you catch fish on a clump and it stops, come back later.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
