    Default Anyone in Kansas City...

Kids want us to move to Kansas City. All I se to fish at (close) is...
    1. Jacomo
    2. Blue Springs
    3. Lakewood
    4. Longview
    And a few neighborhood "ponds".

Anyone know if the fishing is any good...what's there...what type/HP/electric etc. of boat?
We'll be up there to look around in a month or so...in south TX now on the border.

    Thanks

I live close to LONGVIEW and take the grandkids out because it’s close. The fishing is only so-so for me
Others on this site do better than I do
Lakewood I believe is a private lake but not sure
The other are Jackson county lakes including Prairie Lee lake
All require annual permits JACOMO has a 20 or 25 hp limit
    The other ones no limit
There is also James A Reed ponds that MDC
stocks Google JACKSON County Mo parks and rec they have a website for info
    Good luck to you

Smithville lake just north of KC has some good fishing, it can be on fire one day and dead the next, but there is some good fish to be caught. This last fall was very good.

What sort of fishing do you do?
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Truman is a good bet if you live on the south side. The highway is much improved since I fished it a lot.

I wouldn't be able to recommend any of the closer lakes with the exception of Clinton in Kansas. Some people do ok at the lakes you mentioned but I have never had what I would call a great day at them.

For a few years KC was probably one of the best places in mid America to live for fresh water fishing. I saw every one of the lakes mentioned accept Jacomo and Prairie Lee opened and for 5 to 10 years each had good to fantastic fishing. Now you have to work a bit harder and fight the crowds.

What do you think of Clinton Lake? Or Perry Lake? We have kids/grandkids in Lawrence.

Clinton and Perry are awesome for cats and crappie. You can't lose with either one. Smithville in Smithville MO. Is the better of the lakes in the KC area without having to drive so far to Truman Lake.
