    This won't be solved here.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

well I'm one appreciative fishermen when it comes to LOZ dock owners, best people in the world. They don't want me there, off I go, then they tell me I can fish it anytime. :]

You can take safe Harbor on a dock, two years ago in a spring downpour we where on the wrong side of the lake in a 16 ft rental boat, took refuge on private dock, left the boat tied up outside, mistake. Noticed water above the seats and we pulled it to an open dock and bailed it out. The dock save our arse that day.

    Thank you dock owner.

For perspective the Lake Ozark dock fishing discussion isn’t new, we dealt with it 40 years ago and guys older than us had prior to that. One story to keep the mood light. A Niangua resort dock had multiple attractors in front of it. We winter fished it when there were no customers around; stop, catch a few and move on, never had a run in with anyone or that anybody even knew we were there. One day there was a cat hanging out on the dock. Shouldn’t have but I finally got tempted to pitch him an undersized crappie. What we didn’t know was the owner had a speaker near the fuel pumps under a roof overhang and was watching us. From the speaker booms “dont feed crappie to the cat”! That instant cemented my belief in God, abiding by game laws, and carrying an extra change of clothes in the boat.

I agree with wolfhnd. Generally good discussion on here. I almost solely fish the Little Niangua when at LOZ. I haven't been much of a dock shooter to this point, so I can't speak from experience on that, but flipping and casting, 99% of the time I can get my hung jig off a dock while remaining in the boat. We generally know the folks where we fish docks and so the other 1% of the time I get on the dock and retrieve, but can't argue with anyone who disagrees with that as it is a bit questionable on the right thing to do. I've never snagged a boat seat or boat cover. Usually just wrapped around a post or dropped through gaps in the decking.
