    Default LOZ Updates?

    Good Morning Guys,

I know you have had a ton of rain down there and the water was muddy. I am heading down from IL to stay at the state campground over Memorial Day weekend. Will be towing my fifth wheel and I am wondering if it is going to be worth having my wife tow my jon boat with a second vehicle? Can you guys help me out and let me know the situation? Much appreciated.

Jon boat on LOZ on Memorial Weekend???? Not sure I'd do it if the water was clear as a bell.

LOL, it would be very early in the morning and not venturing out too far. I have spent many 10 day vacations on LOZ in past Summers so I know when it's time to head for the dock. Have to fish while they are sleeping off the hangovers.

Redbird, I would not let the muddy water scare you from crappie fishing. I have fished 5-6 days in the last 2 weeks. I have fished from the 3mm to the 17mm and have caught a lot of fish. Now the size is another story. For every keeper you will catch 5-6 that are shorts. Fish are still behind dock under and inside the cables. Wednesday we did catch a few decent post spawn fish in deeper water around brush. Jigs with pink heads has been the ticket. Hopefully the fishing will still be good for you over the holiday weekend.

Thanks Benelli. I have one spot off a dock that has always produced no matter what time of year. As a matter of fact I can walk to it. Just wish I didn't have to bring two vehicles from central IL for just two days.

I have not crappie fished recently but heard size is hard to come by. The bass fishing has been good with most fish shallow and the chance for a biggin on topwater in the morning....buzzbait is my preference.

Yes I've put the crappie poles down the last couple weeks.
Fished mainlake and secondary points with a crankbait and did very well.
Caught lots of keeper bass.. but they go right back in for another day.
I might try a little crappie fishing here at LOZ tomorrow

Went out today at 4mm and dock fished for an hour...spending half of that time throwing to bank and around dock cables...not one bite, it was brutal!
If we did what was most important in life there
would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles
