Never used one pulling cranks. Let us know if you do.
So it's basically presentation, getting the bait in front of them. If you're saying 3" or 6" baits then they'll hit a mini crankbait if it's in their zone.
It may be a while, I don't have the gear or the rod holders in my boat. I have about a dozen crankbaits in various colors and sizes but that's about it.
Used size 5 flicker shads in fire tiger in local lake to get the crappie and gills. Size depends on how deep you want to troll. We use mainly fire tiger and black/gold. Those will catch anything. The northerns and walleye in Canada loved them.
There is a utube video about using a bucket for spider rigging. We used them in Pauls boat and they worked just fine for pulling used one rod longer than the other to give them space to spread out but I think you could get by with just turning the bucket for the right angle. When we were experimenting we just held onto the pole used one each. Just google to find the bucket. Inexpensive way to find out if you want to get more involved with it.
Thanks, I'll give 'er a look.
