Ameren just reopened the gates at the dam, they are drawing the lake down to 654.0. Fishing is going to be kinda tough for awhile.

I got the weekend of the 16th open but it's not looking good for that weekend also. I will have to wait and see if any reports coming in.

I went yesterday on the lower end of the Gravois, it was pretty tough. Ended up catching two, fishing docks.

I know from experience on the Big Niangua, it gets real spotty this time of the year. When the water temp starts dropping from the mid to upper 40's, downward. The best chance I have had this time of the year has been on calm sunny days. Shooting around the pontoon lifts, especially the metal ones. I always find it odd that the crappie are hanging out only a couple feet deep, and the water temp in in the 30's. I guess it warmer around those metal toons.
My favorite time of the year is shortly after Valentines day as the water temps start rising. Anywhere from Mid-Feb thru Mid-Mar has been the best time of the year for quality and qty. It's probably the easiest time of the year to catch fish well over a pound and up to 2 pounds.
