    Default Pomme help

Heading down to Pomme this weekend for a nice holiday break. We are staying at the Dam Campsite... No boat. Just a bunch of shore fishing. Any chance I still might be able to get into a few crappie still up in the shallow water? If not, any chance the Green Carp would be feeding (not in the "post spawn"/lock jaw)? Really looking forward to hitting Pomme as I've heard it is a beautiful. Any help would be much appreciated Z

Ok I don't know how much you already know about Pomme. There is a floating covered fishing dock by the Harbor Marina it is just a few dollars for 24 hours of fishing. Or at least that is what it used to be. They are located on the west side of the dam. You can also go over to Pittsburg State Park Marina off of highway 64B and they offer fishing for a fee off of their docks. They offer food and stuff too. I personally couldn't find any fish on the shore Saturday afternoon in my boat. Oh and you can also fish below the dam, I have had good luck there in the past when they were letting out water. I used to live on Pomme and it is a beautiful lake for sure. And you might check with Nemo Marina about renting a boat. Pittsburg State Park Marina also rents boats too.

Well I had a buddy in his 50's who had never fished out of a boat, never fished with ultra light equipment, never tied on a jig before and who thought that 4 pound test line was a joke! We caught a lot of fish but they were small and we only caught one Crappie and he got it and it was only a 9.5 inch fish. Plus I was dealing with the first trip out with a new fish finder. And I ended up just running and gunning as fast as I could with my Lowes 175 boat with a 50 horse on it! LOL! I just fished places that I had caught Crappie in the past! I should have been fishing a lot deeper. Sorry I am not into Bass! LOL! And your welcome for the information. One thing the Pittsburg State Park Marina has one of the cleanest bathrooms on the lake too!! And there is a wonderful bait and tackle place I don't remember the name of it. But from Carsons Corner head towards Nemo, then take a right at the 4 way stop sign and head towards Pittsburg after you cross the bridge over the lake go about a mile and its on the right just before the junction of Hwy 64 and Hwy 64B! They sell everything!!!

Oh and you can get a good pizza at the Nemo Bowling Lanes. They are located as you come to the 4 way stop at Nemo coming from Carson Corners just go straight and you will see them. They will be on the right and they might be 300 yards from the 4 way stop at Nemo!

I think MDC has installed a lot of fish attractors in Pomme, so you might look on their app. I'm sure some of them are accessible from the bank....good luck!!!!

Yeah vic n is right about downloading that app! It's a free app and it shows all the information on Missouri Lakes with fishing reports and also shows regulations for each lake too! You will need that for sure. And its simple to use too!

Fishing from the banks at Bolivar Landing can be good at times.

The floating fishing dock at the Harbor I believe has been gone for several years, don't know if they will let you fish off the marina dock like the state park does or not. There are 2 fishing docks right below the Corps of Engineers Office, and another 2 at Bolivar Landing, at times they are very very good. Otherwise if you are willing to put in the shoe leather, the shoreline between Damsite and the dam can be pretty productive if difficult to fish from the bank.
