Thread: Stockton Lake?

Not sure about the time of year you will be looking at but half a night crawler on a jig head very slow trolled or bottom bounced off points in about 15 foot of water has caught me a few eye’s down there and even crappie form time to time.

Next year gets a little closer check back, or search the stockton threads, lots of good post to help you out. Right now I am catching crappie in 20 to 35 ft. of water some just off the bottom and some 15 ft. deep, they will go deep when the water cools down,,,, also catching on brush, or close to brush. From Hawker point to Mutton creek.

Perfect lake for family time. Great to swim or watersport in and has some fine fishing too. Plenty of places on the whole lake to pull cranks and be successful, you will have a high chance of catching crappie and eyes while pulling cranks. It is a monster if the wind is over 15mph though, if you don't have a deep v it can be a rough riding lake getting from point A to point B. We camped at State Park there this summer, I was not a fan of the site at all. Look at Cedar Ridge or Orleans Trail.

Like beagle said when time is closer watch and somebody will hopefully be telling whats going on.

Spring during the spawn is the best time for crappie on Stockton, when "they're on the bank", thing is there is no definite date when it happens.
Beagle is right, best wait until spring and see what folks are saying.
Makes it hard to schedule time off though.

Thanks for the advice guys. Like PeculiarMike said it's tough to schedule time off so I figured I'd stop by and see if anyone could give me an outline of what summer fishing is like. We normally go to Truman so I was wondering how the fishing quality compared.

Crappie fishing during the summer on Stockton is superb! You need to find brush piles or some other type of cover between 10-20 ft of water. Mid June to early July trolling crankbaits in deep coves proves to be good for post spawn fish. Early July go up in the creeks and dip around standing timber or laydowns or stumps. Mid July on throughout the summer fish congregate over and around the brushpiles and structure. Crappie size is moderate 11-13 inches are good ones. Very few if any over the 15 inch mark. Fish must be 10 inches to be a keeper.

Planning on going thos weekend fishing from the bank. Any good areas to hit for some crappie?
