If you combine all these suggestions you will come out with excellent results.
It just takes the correct knots to hold to what you tie to and wet before tightening , especially when tying to mono.
I personally wind mono on first because I graduated the waste not school down in the Ozarks.

Put a loop knot on the spool end of the line and slip it over the line keeper on the side of the spool. Then spool your line. It will never slip. Be sure to snip the little tag from your loop knot.
on the tape side, teflon plumbers tape seems to work better for me than electrical tape. I tie the braid directly to the spool and use a simple slip knot, pull it tight, then a quick half hitch or half a granny knot never had a problem with it slipping.
I put a small line of silicone on the spool first, that stops it.
I always put cheap mono on and then the braid. Saves money and you dont need a full spool of braid.
Put mono or another type on first, not much just enough to cove the surface. This will allow braid to spool better, and keep the braid from cutting into the spool over time.

Tape.
It slides on tape and or cuts through it.

I know you don't want to hear tape but I tape my braid on with a small strip of scotch tape
