Thread: How many people would throw back a 13 incher

I'm 99% C and R. just like to fish but don't need to eat them all the time even though I love em. my problem is I don't make them in a very healthy way. I like to beer batter and deep fat fry them. I've thrown some 14 and 15" fish back this month let alone a bunch of 13's... these would be the ones to eat as they have contributed most of their DNA to the fishery and are at their life's end.

It depends on if the other 14 are 14 inches +.

I would think after 9 years (the age of this thread) it would be dead by now anyway.

Agreed.

A 13" crappie is at the end of it's life span. Think about it.

I caught one that was just over 14 on Pomme. About this time last year, just about ready to spawn. Couldn't bring myself to eat her, that lake has been pretty lousy as far as size goes for the past couple years, thought maybe it would help, there are more than enough 10" fish there for dinner.

Anyone know if a slot limit applies genetically to Crappie as well as it does to other species? Keep the 10-12 inchers and throw back the big fish and dinks.
