We had a blast that week, and we can't wait to get back down there. Hoping to meet some of the fellas on here when we come back.
One of the days down there was especially exciting. We were all the way in the back of Sardis and the wind started blowing real good (guessing it was about 35 mph). Started back towards Engineer's Point, and realized I was about out of gas. Got about halfway back in 3 foot rollers and noticed the fuel gauge needle was on E and wasn't bouncing like it was before. The girlfriend started to panic and called the COE. They said they don't come out unless you are in distress (I guess crappin' your pants and spittin' up in your mouth don't count as distress). Anyway, managed to get to the ramp. Looked like the IBOG (International Brotherhood of Gewbers) was holding a convention. The girlfriend had to get out of the truck and get after a couple of 'em for cuttin' in front of her on the ramp. She said something to Mr. Greenjeans and he said "that happens all the time" (there was about seven of 'em standin' around jawin'). Finally got the boat on the trailer and was headed toward the cabin. Got lit up by Mr. Greenjeans halfway across the dam and pulled over. Said he wanted to know why we didn't stop at the ramp to have our licenses and livewell checked. Truth was we stopped at the ramp, tied down the boat, and put most of our stuff away ( we must have been there for at least 20 minutes). Yes WB, licenses were up to date and all fish were over 13". Turned out to be an exciting day all the way around.
Those are some HAWGS!!!
