    Default Habitat Day

Enid Lake has set their day for 02/04/2023. I have a truckload of Christmas trees I'll be carrying. Hope to see you there.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District at Enid Lake will host its annual Fish Habitat Day on Feb. 4.

Volunteers will construct and place fish shelters using wooden stakes, natural vegetation, or recycled Christmas trees that provide bedding and cover for fish. Participants are invited to meet at the Enid Lake Field Office at 7 a.m. on the day of the event. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and there will door prizes available after lunch. Volunteers are encouraged to wear warm outdoor clothing and bring gloves.

The winter months are usually ideal for this work because lower lake levels expose mudflats and provide open spaces to create new fish habitats.

For more information, contact the Enid Lake Field Office at 662-563-4571

That seems to be what everyone does after building them. Once they are built anyone can set a GPS on them.

Just back from Home Depot. That large spool of mono cord used for tying loads with? It was left out overnight and someone cut it in 3 to 4 ft pieces. The manager had it bagged up and waiting for me. I'll burn the tips so it doesn't come a part, use it to tie anchors and trees together.

    Yep for sure.
I got to looking, all the gloves I have the knit with vinyl dipped palms. I could have bought a dozen of any type glove a while back for about $3 each. I looked at the store today, $28 was the best I could find. Wasn't much of a choice.
