Default Taxidermist for Crappie near Ross Barnett

If anyone knows a Crappie Taxidermist around the Jackson area please let me know. I am trophy fishing a lot and don't know a good taxidermist that does fish mounts near Ross Barnett. Thanks

Bud, Thanks for responding. I kinda like real skin mounts. This Bull Red is 59 inches long but only 39 pounds. You can see in the picture the manikin was too small for the mount but it was the largest available at the time. It's 29 years old this winter. Anyway, I can mount but can't paint Crappie well and really want to just drop off my trophy and let a "Pro" handle it. If you know someone please let me know.

Crappie mounts seem to be the hardest fish to do! I have seen many done that don’t look right I think it’s the color that is so hard to hit

I've been airbrush painting for years, started at 18 now pushing 61. I airbrushed the shotguns for the ESPN Outdoor Games.
Rendering a proper paint job on any fish is a challenge. So many transparent layers, so many spray directions to create depth, then some you top with opaques to soften the layered transparency. Fish are the lowest return per hour invested also the most messy to mount. Taxidermist do well just to get their Shoulder Mounts and small game Mounts out on time.

BTW, the Redfish stunk for 6 months more after it was finished.

Taxidermist I use for my deer will only do bass and fur animals. He said he can do birds but has never been satisfied when done and will spend hour after hour placing feathers to make it look good but just consumes to much time. I imagine it would be the same layering the colors to get a crappie just right

Birds were my favorite to mount. Skinning is critical as you can't stretch the skin all or the feathers won't lay right. I used a chain with several hooks to hold the breast up suspended while I worked the parts apart. On Bobwhites & Morning Doves I cut the pieces off, dissecting so to speak, then finished skinning on the table one part at a time. The turn off for me was de-greasing the underside of the skin.

If I strike out on finding a Pro to mount my Crappie I guess we will just do a tutorial on mounting and painting crappie right here. Most of the fish I painted in the past I was too heavy handed with the color, they look part "Fishing Lure" to me after I'm done.
