That is the main reason I do not use them, afraid of a big fish straightening them out!

It took some pressure to strengthen it out. I was using braid, it was what I estimate to be a 20 pound blue under a pier built dock. I locked the drag down and pulled away with the trolling motor trying to get it to deeper water to tire it out. Had I not horsed the fish around so hard I would not have gotten it out from under the dock. I do not fault the quick snap. I would could have broken the line just as easily. That was an extreme case I was pointing out

I use a VMC 00 30lb crankbait snap and they are great. They are small enough I will snap em straight to a jig as well. Great product.

I use #10 Eagle Claw barrel snap swivels from WalMart. 35 in a pack for about $2.50. I make my living with them and use my exact same client set-up for tournaments. In years of using them we’ve caught 60 pound Bighead carp, 20+ pound flathead cats, and hundreds of drums up to 20 pounds.I may have had one break in all this time.
