Default Motor guide vs Minn Kota

XI3 motor guide vs Terrova . Looking for a motor to spider rig . Large difference in price of these units . I will not link anything or need blue tooth . As a stand along unit will I be pleased ? Saw where that the motor guide was suppose to be quieter and several hundred cheaper . your thoughts ? anybody got one ?

I have the Terrova 55BT. I do like the Blue Tooth. The regular remote is not lit. I fish a night a good amount. You can pull the app up on the phone and run the motor from the lit screen. Spot Lock and Spot Lock jog is awesome. The Auto pilot is nice also. Point the motor in the direction you want to go and it will stay on that course. Turn the motor 90 degrees to the left, and it will turn the boat and head in that direction. Frees you up to re rig rods between spots you would troll to. I bought the foot pedal thinking I would need it when we chased down catfish jugs. I can stand anywhere in the boat and run down a jug with the handheld remote or the phone. I can't speak for the MotorGuide

Personally I have had two motor guides in the past that I didn’t like, So I’ve stayed minnkota.

Now a days You almost have to match your trolling motor to you electronics.

Going to find one on someone's boat before making a choice . Do not plan on linking anything . Heard good and bad . Back in the day motor Guide was more expensive and made in Starkville ,MS.

Get the Terrova. That’s what I have on my boat. Foolproof.

I have sold and installed both till retiring. Minn Kota (Johnson Outdoors) is a little more expensive than Motor-Guide (Mercury). I personally switched back to Motor-Guide X3's on everything due to lower weight, quieter, coatings quality, and most importantly all the On/Off pedal switches are on the same side with 3 boats. I quickly realized more thrust and longer battery life with the X3's. I had a Ultrex on my Blazer to try but the electric steering although power steering made too much noise for me single pole fishing close to tree tops in the Swamp. It was fine in open water. The I-Pilot is fantastic and the ability to instantly switch to the hand control is super convenient fishing open water, deeper, trees. I removed the Ultrex and went back to the X3 after 1 week. Still have the Ultrex for possible use at a later date. This may also help, I like the X3's so much when the sales rep for my supplier can around with the last dating order I bought backup motors and have them in my shop. Not that I needed them but feel very happy that I got them anyway.
