Any advice for a 1st time coming down to fish Arkabutla? Want to come down tomorrow or Tuesday with my 13 yr old but have never fished the lake. You can pm your response if you choose. Thanks for any help given!

Our intentions were to longline in 6-10 fow. Not sure if that's a good plan for this lake or not. Thanks BroKenneth and stormcloud.

Very high water! 7 feet above Summer pool. Very tough lake. If it were me, I would go a little further down I-55 to Sardis. jmo from experience. Good Luck!

This is great advice. The drive would be worth the effort.

Look at results of crappie masters tourney and tell why not Grenada. A 2 pound average wouldnt have put you in the top 50.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

I caught a limit wading butla Thursday morning quick like. But since then water has came up 4ft plus and cooled off significantly. It has them boogered up pretty bad. I'd take the advice of heading farther south till the water gets time to settle and warm back up.

Sardis got slammed on Saturday night by storms. Spillway closed and 20,000 cfps inflow now. It had trash floating in water on Friday and muddying up then. Should be a total mess for next 3-4 days. I'd go on down to Grenada too. Arkabutla also on a fast rise from Saturday night storms. The average weight for crappie masters tournament was 2.46 pounds for the 1047 crappie caught during tournment at Grenada.

Well Catchemdeep, Sardis was a complete mess today. There was so much trash floating around from tires to 55 gallon drums. There was no way to fish that train wreck. Talked to several others there and not the 1st fish was caught.
