    Default Wade Fishing in Okatibbee

Any ya’ll ever wade fish at Okatibbee? I’ll be down there the last weekend of the month for work and was going to try them out that Saturday evening. From what I’ve seen the water depth is fairly shallow north of Center Hill Martin Rd. Thanks for any help!

never waded there but if I would I would go to the ramp on the NW by the causeway (Gin Creek) and go up in the corner to the West. Usually the first place to get the spawn. Some good shallow water if the Corps is not holding back the water.

I’ve waded it a lot over the years. I go park at Collinsville beach and walk out to the point you pass that’s to the LEFT of the beach as you look out on the lake from the beach. I wade across the little bay on the left of the ridge that makes the point and work around that western bank working north. There’s a stump field about 40 - 50 yards off that bank that will hold spawning fish. The stump field begins about a hundred yards down that western bank. Have no idea how high the water is though. If you DONT see stumps off that West Bank FROM THE BEACH, then it’s too high to wade there. I have caught some off that West Bank in the bushes at the waters edge though so that’s worth checking out even if it’s up in the woods.

Well, how did it go? I was there the following week but weather was bad and I didn’t fish.

I actually had a group of friends come out with me so I didn't wade. I did walk out on that point (to the west of Covington Beach) and hit a spot on the west side of it and pulled out two small ones. I'm going to keep trying it. Didn't see the stump field so I'm guessing the water was up.
