    Default Trip To MS

Hi everyone, Maybe we crossed electrons on the electronics, boat rigging or general forum but wanted to introduce myself. Mike Sherman here and I live up in Missouri and primarily fish Mark Twain Lake and Lake of the Ozarks. I have a bucket list of places i want to crappie fish and Grenada is on that list. I was thinking of making a trip down sometime between March and Julys and have a few questions if anyone would be so kind to help.
I have only been crappie fishing for about 4 years but am set up to single pole, spider rig or pull cranks. Each year I am trying to learn new methods and this year I have focused on catching crappie during their winter pattern.
How are the locals with regards to out of staters coming down and fishing your waters?
Any recommendations for a place to stay that also has the ability to plug in a boat?
Local tackle stores or restaurants that could use a little business?
What do i need to look out for or consider before coming down?
I appreciate any info you provide.
    Thanks.
    Mike

Honestly, I don't know that anyone cares and if they do, too bad. It's public water, but do be prepared for the absolute insanity that you are required to wear a PFD whenever the big motor is running. As it turns out, the Army Corps of Engineers don't believe that an adult should be allowed to make such basic decisions for themselves.

I'm not familiar with businesses around Grenada, so I can't help there. If Grenada isn't being nice, Enid is fairly close and Sardis is a little further.

I go 3-4 trips every year and have always enjoyed the fishing part of the trips. Most fishermen are friendly but their is always going to be a few that frowns on out of town ers or just plain smart butts . Have stayed on Enid at Cossar park and fished Grenada,Enid, and Sardis but if I was going to fish Grenada specifically id personally stay at Robin Hood Rentals very nice down to earth folks and very clean and only about 3 miles to the ramp at Turkey creek .but it’s back in the boonies for sure it’s 30-45 mins out from town so take what you need with ya ! If you Stay at Cossar park it’s about a 30 min drive to Grenada but your only about 15 minutes from the town of Batesville .

I wouldn't worry about what people think about you "fishing their waters". COE lakes are funded by your tax dollars as well as the locals.

The locals will show you respect if you do the same for them. If you are lucky enough to make it through Memphis safely you will have a fun trip.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

If you stay on the Interstate and come through between 3am and 5am you'll probably be ok getting through Memphis. Most of the criminals are sleeping during that time. But, by all means, don't exit off the Interstate. During daylight hours it's like a racetrack with people who don't know how to drive.

    STAY OFFA MA LAKE!!! Haha

I’m just pickin come on down brother! Any of the cabins at the state parks are good! I would recommend the ones at Enid though because you can fish any of the big four from there! As far as picking your time weather will be the big kicker there! I live only a few miles from Grenada so I I’d be happy to help in any way possible!

We west KY guys are lucky. There’s a Memphis by-pass, I-269 coming in from Jackson. Don’t even have to sniff Memphis. Comes out at Hernando. Just obey speed limits on it and there are a couple of speed trap spots.
