I have the fever for a Live Scope but I recently was watching a fishing show that was the championship at Sardis last year. I heard a comment that the fish seemed to back away from the Live Scope and one team said that they thought they would be better off to turn theirs off. I would like to hear from some of you that currently use Live Scope to see if you have seen similar behavior from crappie.
I have seen comments about how great the system is and I plan to buy one. However I do not want to spend that much and find that it is possible to condition fish to run from the signal. Thanks for any input.

I've run mine at two lakes in the state that are normally lightly stained (green water) and have not experienced fish running away from my Livescope ... however, on a normally much clearer water lake (Cumberland), I have heard my buddy mention that there are times when he has to stay away from the schools or even small pods of Crappie suspended in the forks of trees, by a good 20ft. Any closer and the school scatters or the fish simply move off. And yet, that same buddy fished Dale Hollow several times and never mentioned them acting that way down there. SO ... ... maybe it's the Livescope ping or maybe it's not ... could just as well be the presence of the boat, or other factors.

i cant say if its the livescope ping or not but livescope does show fish running from the boat when trolling against the wind with the water slapping the front of the boat and not so much when going with the wind and then again the fish seem to spook more when there a lot of boats around but that's something we already knew before we spent 3 grand

I’d say it would more likely be the trolling motor.

Yeah they run from it. It’s not worth getting. They are so scared of the ping they just jump in the boat. Lol I’ve always considered my self a good fisherman I could get one man limit by lunch on consistent basis. Now since livescope I’ve thrown back a two or three man limit in that time.

Livescope will teach you that there is more fish in the sea than you ever imagined and how many look at/swim away from your bait.

I don't think the fish are "running" from the Livescope. I have witnessed fish swimming away but I can usually figure it out quickly. As mentioned above, boat slap in choppy water will cause a fish to get away from you. In those conditions, you have to adjust the livescope to see further out and then cast to them. Also, walking around in the boat, fish moving in the live well, dropping stuff in the bottom of the boat, etc cause fish to "run". When I've seen this the worst is on pressured lakes. Less pressured lakes you can get away with murder.
arkcrappie pretty well said it all.
