    Default Electronics question

I only fish Okatibee and The Rez. I am still running an 80's model Eagle depth finder that just shows depth and water temp from the trolling motor. At the back of the boat I have a Lowrance HDS 5 that I very rarely turn on...except to navigate a few stump fields at the rez. I am thinking about upgrading my electronics at the trolling motor. Biggest reason is I want some help from the electronics to stay on the edge of the creek channel in Okatibee when I want to. I would also love to be able to see what depth fish are hanging out at(if that is possible without livescope). At both the Rez and Okatibee, I mostly just go to the same spots over and over again that I have learned form fishing there 20 years but side imaging to find new trash piles sounds intriguing.
I know I am behind the times.....

After using the same depth finder for 40 years I’d say u should have plenty of money saved to get a fancy one. This is how I look at stuff I absolutely love to crappie fish and deer hunt I buy the best that I can afford if I’m going to take time off from work and spend every chance I get on the water or in the woods I’m buying the best I can afford to give me the best opportunity at whatever I’m chasing. And you only get one go around in life I ain’t never seen a uhaul behind a Hearse

Garmin echomap 93sv uhd is on sale everywhere(BPS, Reed's,Dick's,etc) now. $599 and if you decide to livescope later they will work while the "Birds won't. I think the 73sv is going for about 450. still a good unit and will do livescope later if you desire.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

I’m in Gomers camp on this one. I’m a bird guy from long ago. Bout old model 93sv for live scope then they came out with UHD. I’m impressed with mine just on the scope haven’t even installed the ducer. But from videos and reports I have seen that 93svUHD would be hard to beat for the money right now. And like said if you came into a windfall of money you could use it with the scope. It has 2d, Di and Si which would be great for where you are fishing.

I fish a lot like you do, some of the same places as you, and almost always depend on past experiences to get me started. I have been using a helix 7 on the front for a long while and love it. Just make sure you get the one with that has everything you want, si, di, and such.
