Pushing minnows works great when water is this hot although I have trouble with minnows dying more quickly on the hook in the hot weather (gotta stay above the thermocline). We pull/push cranks, power troll jigs and long line road runners just to cover more water. Key at Sardis in my opinion is the more water you cover the more fish you catch in the hot summertime. I do think the action and sound of the baits produce more strikes by "aggravating" the crappie. We have absolutely killed the crappie during this time of the year with minnows (when the fish were schooled up tight and we knew where they were). This is just my opinion, others may disagree.
