Default Future Mississippi Trip, What Month?

Hello All! New member, first post. I live in Michigan and have my heart set on a trip down for some of the big slabs y'all grow. My preferred method is to troll Flicker Shad, with a close second being minnows under slip bobber.

I've picked out the location I'd like to go, kind of in the SW part of the state. What month of the year would you recommend? This might be a year or two out as I've some western hunting trips with preference points stacking up to get out of the way first.

You want to go to one of the Big Four! Arkabutla, Sardis, Enid or Grenada! If you are taking your boat, look on Youtube for someone fishing one of those lakes! You can see how it's done before you get there! Your first time there....HIRE A GUIDE!!!!! You will love it!

Thanks BarryG. I will be bringing my boat. I've seen that running spider rigs up front are very popular down there, but I'd rather not invest that much on gear that wouldn't get used again.

I'm not up to speed on what waters are allowed to be mentioned, but I'm those four aren't the one I'm looking at. I'll likely not hire a guide as much as I'll get local input.

Those 4 lakes I mentioned, you can’t keep any crappie Under 12 in!

The one negative against those lakes is their sheer size. I'm looking at 4 to 6 days to fish. That doesn't allow for much of a learning curve to get on active fish.

I'm looking at a lake with an 11" minimum. That probably narrows it down enough to make an educated guess.

So, if you could only hit the water for one month on let's say Grenada, which month would you pick?

That's three months eliminated at least.

I appreciate the help. I think I'll be looking to make a trip in April.

Please forgive me. I don't know the Brad you're referring to.

For the ease of conversation, I'm planning to go to Lake Washington. If revealing that lake name violates forum policy, I apologize and ask the moderator to delete as necessary. I've contacted local shops but they were inclined to say its always good. After further YouTube search as advised, I've decided that I'll go in April.
It will be the spring after next as I'm already committed toma KS turkey hunt next April and an October grouse hunt in Maine, with a possible Wyoming antelope hunt in early October. Then it will be Mississippi slab crappie!
