    Default Pulling cranks

Just spent 3 days on Grenada pulling cranks and caught some decent fish. Had around 10-15 keepers each day with 3 of them in the 2.25 range. I was pleased being the first time ever on the lake. Wanting to take my son and dad back to try it and wondering what is normally the best month to pull them? Thanks for any info!

If you're catching 10-15 daily, keep doing what you're doing. Great job. There may be a few things that you can do here and there to dial them in a little bit better, but that's better than you can hope for.

As far as time of year goes, now through September is going to be your best time. Every now and then you'll get some stretches in the middle of the summer where the lakes don't get a bunch of incoming water and clear up a lot. Those are the best days for me, but you may only have a few of them in an entire year.

Man that is awesome I fished 3 days last week pulling cranks all 3 days and only did 12 keepers in the 3 days I fished ( not full days mind you.) I caught a few hundred short fish that wore my ass out though so it was still fun

Thanks for the info. We really didn’t know what to expect or what we were looking for. After watching the crappie USA weigh-in I felt like we had a decent day! What exactly is Crankfest?Name: 0F92991F-7A4C-418F-AFF2-323ABFF8ED45.jpg

It's a cranking tradition on Grenada Lake that when someone has a productive day on thier first time out that they post all their secret hotspots, depths, speeds, and colors from that trip. Just sayin!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

No seriously. Congrats on your trip looks like it was a good one for sure. Great post.

Hey Missouri Bushwacker - wish you had left that last paragraph out of your post. I could use some info like that for Grenada.

I don’t mind telling I caught them mostly on a solid orange bandit 300 8lb test line running 1.3 mph in 16-20’ of water as far as the spot I don’t have a clue just got on a bank and started going looking at my birds! By the time Saturday got there and more boats were on the water I’m pretty sure it was not a secret spot I had found.

If you are catching a limit a day you are doing it right, even if it was luck. Keep doing what you are doing.
