Default Pelahatchie Bay Boat Launch at 471

    Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 10 foot boat with a trolling motor and I’ve been looking for spots to fish for bream and crappie that are in close proximity to a boat launch since my trolling motor is running on a battery. I was thinking about fishing the area around Plummer’s Slough soon and I saw that the boat launch at 471 is the closest. I also saw that the channel leading from 471 to Plummer’s Slough zigs and zags and I was wanted to know how safe it was for small boaters cruising through that channel. The last thing I want is some power boat (or any boat for that matter) zooming through in that channel while I’m in my boat and smacking into me. I have seen kayakers launch at 471 but I didn’t know if they were headed for the bay or up the creek. I’m new to boating so bare with me if the question seems silly. Also if anybody would like to point me in the general direction of good bream fishing in the bay or anywhere on the Rez that’s I would appreciate it (you don’t have to put me right on top of them)

You should be fine out to Plumber’s slough. Keep your life jacket on just in case. There is good fishing under the bridge and back up the creek also. Good luck.
