Did I hear that right. All the lakes and rivers are closed in Mississippi. After Friday.

Reckon I spend a little time in the hoosgow then, hear the food is pretty decent. See a older fella in north Mississippi in the backseat of a patrol car wearing a CDC hat it will probably be that fella Cray.... cause I'm taking off running Did I hear that rightDid I hear that right

All kidding aside, I do believe folks need to take this thing seriously. I just don't see going fishing as a threat if you don't crowd up on other folks at the ramp or gas stations, bait shops etc. To me fishing or being outdoors is more essential to me then anything. I would be willing to quit my job for it if I could find out who would be willing to sign my checks! Penning folks up in small quarters for long periods of time is just asking for trouble.

As a doc in Tupelo I urge all the folks on the MS forum to follow the stay at home order. I totally understand everyone's frustrations about not being able to fish but you have to understand what we are dealing with. This is something none of us have ever seen. The speed at which this spreads and kills is something we haven't seen and is scary to behold. Trust me on that. It's not just "hanging out at the ramps" that we worry about, its the car ride to the lake, stopping for gas, etc. that goes with fishing. It's the example it sets for others that see you towing a boat to the lake at the time of stay at home order and how that will temp others to disobey this as well. The big four bring people from surrounding states as well which in a time of pandemic is something that needs to be limited as well. The last thing we need at this point it for people from all over crossing state lines from other areas possibly bringing in more chance for infection. This will kill a lot of folks before this is over, many who may frequent this site. If you don't want to obey these orders for your own health, then at least do it for others. The loss of our older generation simply isn't worth catching a crappie at this point. The fishing will be here next spring. Many of our/my friends will not be depending on how this works out and the mature decisions people make or don't. Not trying to preach or start a fight with anyone. I'm heading to work soon where I now have to wear a mask all day to try and pray to not get infected today and bring it back to my wife and little girls. The general public doesn't have to take that risk nor should they. I just ask that everyone do their part and obey any rules set out by the state for the good of everyone, even if it does shut down our favorite past time for a short while.

The short while part is the thing that has me worried. If they closes it for two weeks is oK. But what happens if this goes on for several months. Can You say that it will not be closed indefinitely. I know going to grocery store right now is more dangerous than me fishing by myself out in the middle off a lake. To many unknowns.
