Default Sardis soon little help please

Planning on fishing Sardis in the next week. Probably lower lake. I think I saw a post earlier about the dam store being closed. Is that still the case? If so is the bait shop over on the other side of the lake, Williams I think it is, still the place to go? Be coming from Memphis direction.

Thought about going straight jigs but have always fished with minnows behind a jig. Thoughts about winter fishing jigs without minnows spider rigging?

Dam store was closed when I passed by around 1:30pm. Ten trailers at eng. point, about thirty boats in lower lake. One trailer at Holiday Lodge, Hurricane ramp looks nice, but no water. Hope this help.

Just my advice, but if your coming from Memphis down I-55 anyway I would swing by JJ's in Hernando just south of the square on Hwy. 51. Wallace was open last time I was there, but they only had little minnows. I just don't like putting all my faith in the final stop, you get all the way there and he is sold out then your SOL. I guess you could always call and make sure they have them on the way. My thoughts on fishing without minnows is, it ain't gonna happen. There will be a bucket in my boat even if I decide I don't need them. Better to have and not need kinda deal for me.

How are the minnows at JJ's (decent count/size)? I haven't been there in a while.

Yes on both, they aren't cheap at $3.99 a dozen but you get a good count normally. 4 or 5 dozen large ends up being more like a pound or more most the time. Larges are usually 3 1/2 to 4" in size and mediums are 2 1/2 to 3" and think those are $3.49 a dozen. I keep telling them to buy a scale and make matters easier and to level the playing field for both customer and merchant. No dice yet, think if we all start bugging them it just may happen soon

Great thanks guys. I’ll try JJs I’m not sure I’ve ever put a boat In The water without minnows so we have a similar mindset.

Follow up question as it’s been a while since I fished lower lake. It doesn’t have the 4 pole per person limit does it?

No pole limit and no length limit. Of course 15 per person creel limit still stands and 40 fish boat limit.
