Carp must be playing havoc on the Delta . 115 view and zero commendations .
Fished Washington and Whittington , Chotard / albermar (sp) during my Ackerman tenure . Eagle and Vicksburg area while at MC Laurin . Went North to Tunica cut off while at Water Valley/Oxford . As a youngster we fished trace, Lee ( now Lamar Bruce ) Monroe And tippah . All the lakes are decent but fall way short in my opinion of what they were years ago . Have not been to the delta in years And was thinking about a trip this spring . Where to target when the water is right ?
We used to go to bulah back 5-6 years ago and do a bream and catfish trip! If you catch the bream just right they were a blast

Most all of the river connected oxbow are full of Asian carp. Whittington (Benoit) and Beulah still pretty bream lakes and both still have fair amounts of crappie catfish and bass in them. The far pretty bad to in the summer. Another good one is Lake Bolivar at Scott. It’s shallow and warms up quicker than the rest.

Lake Ferguson at Greenville is really good. Catch the full moon around June. Can catch more bream than you care to fool with. No crappie in it tho

Since the flood in 2011 all the river lakes have been terrible. Most people blame the carp and I’m sure that’s got a lot to with it. But the gar are also relentless. Another thing is the river has been at or above flood stage every year since the 2008. And every summer the river would get really low and get out of most of the oxbows. I think that killed off a lot the trash fish. The river hasn’t gotten out of Chotard in forever keeping it forever stocked with junk.

I’d say that pretty accurate. If you really want some bream find some the small pothole / pond off some these bigger lakes. They are usually shallower and trash fish usually follow water out of them as it falls. But you’ll have to know the how’s and when’s to fish them.
