It will definitely continue to affect the tournament world of fishing, seems now the only thing separating a decent fishermen from a good one is about $4,000 to spend on the new technology. I do understand you still have to learn how to use it and interpret what your seeing to be consistently successful. The biggest downfall I see with the technology is once it gets to be the norm then the average fishermen will suffer the most, not the guys tournament fishing but the one's who just enjoy getting out and catching a few for a meal or for fun.

For some reason most people I've seen see catching and releasing crappie as some sort of sin. I keep a mess from time to time, but have gotten to where I could careless about cleaning a limit on each outing and I can only eat so many fish or provide friends or family with fillets.

It will all boil down to individual conservation ethics as the technology evolves. Hats off to the tournament trail's who strive to release 100% of the fish caught in their competitions to the lakes they were harvested from. Creel limits will decrease and possibly length limits will increase as well. Although crappie are abundant as of now they are not an infinite resource, take what you need and leave a few for seed. I have no problem with technology as long as it's used responsibly.

And on a side note MO Bushwhaker, I think Nintendo has had the edge on Atari in the video game world the last few year's Livesope Video Game TournamentsLivesope Video Game Tournaments

I always said nothing beats time on the water... but that’s all changed. My new saying is nothing beats time on the water with livescope.
It’ll blow your mind what you’ll learn about fish behavior in your first trip out. Youll prove theories you’ve fished by your whole life wrong.
I personally think it’s the best teaching tool for fish behavior I’ve ever seen.

Quit whining. You didn’t have a problem when it was YOU that was winning everything, and you still get more than your fair share now. Fishermen and women still gotta FIND the right fish and CATCH em just like before. These new guys just have a different “Knowledge” than you have. Mathew Rogers has as much knowledge about fishing as anyone I’ve ever met. He won his Natl. Championship last year WITHOUT A SCOPE, and was only 2nd this year With the Scope!!!!! I guess us spider riggers see what the single pole guys have been griping about. They were just as afraid of spider riggers ruining the fisheries as some think the Scope Guys will.

Quit fretting and go fishing. Either buy the technology or don’t. I think most will, even the weekenders.

If ya Need em, Eat em, but throw the rest back!!!!

Here's my two cents (which is probably worth about half of that)....I am straddling the fence about the whole use of Livescope in tournaments, but I am not a tournament fisherman so its kind of hard for me to have a solid opinion on that matter.

With that said, I will have one on my boat as soon as the money is there to do it and I am lucky if I get to fish a couple of times a month!! Why would I purchase it??? Because as little as I get to fish I need to try and be as productive as possible. Mainly, I would love to know if I am fishing areas that aren't holding any fish. In times past I simply fish certain areas I know (or where everyone else is) and hope for the best. I know people constantly say you "have to put your time in on the water" and I agree with that to a point, but for a guy like me that just isn't possible at this stage of my life. If something like Livescope help me put a few more fish in the boat it will be well worth it to me. And in the end that is what we are all out to do.....catch fish.

I think you will find there will be a lot of guys in the same boat (pun intended) as I am who purchase it for the same reason. We are those who just don't get to go very often and need a little bit of help making the most of the few outings we get to go. And lets be honest, in the end you still have to know how to use it properly (which I bet will be a pretty decent learning curve for me) and even then it doesn't guarantee the fish will bite. The debate has been going on since the beginning of time and will every time something new comes out for the fishing world. And you can bet your bottom dollar that Livescope will likely be "ancient" compared to what they will have in another 5 or so years!

Lets see if I get this right. If you fish a LITTLE it’s ok to get one to be more productive with your time on the water, but if you fish A LOT, it’s not ok because it makes you TO PRODUCTIVE???? Don't see where I said that at all.....I'm all for Livescope and other electronics on the market no matter how much you fish. I simply stated an opinion from my point of view which is someone who doesn't fish much and how it could be advantageous. Never once did I say if you fish alot "its not Ok" Not sure how you took that from my post but sure wasn't the intent.

Won the ACT not the Crappie Masters National, was using it in both. First National Championship he won without it, if I am not mistaken.
