I watched a video on YouTube the other day where the water was low 60’s and air in the 40’s. He was catching right along.

I have been pulling cranks twice a week for several months with good success . Tried spider rigging this week and did ok . I know , let the fish tell you . My boat does not have room for carrying two sets of rods )(for two ). Gets crowded quick when taking someone else .Thought some of the guides would have a preferred degree they switched . I’m going to give pushing a try this weekend. I bet that will work just about year around.

It can definantly get crowded quick with rods. I have gone at times with 16+ rods. a set for rigging and a set for pulling cranks haha

I rigged my boat this summer for pulling by adding 2 mounts for my driftmaster t-bar on the sides just behind the front deck. I use my spider rigging rods fanned backwards and I use 2 reg bass type rods close to boat. my spider rigs all have loop on top to connect to swivel from poles, which i keep rolled up on pool noodle. i can pull cranks and convert to pushing jigs, etc in about 15 min switching holders to front and adding double rigs. so i only have to carry 2 extra rods. yes sometimes i run (2)14, (1) 12, and (1)6ft on each side of the boat. If you don't have the room for extra rods just gotta figure out how to use what you got. yes it would be easier with diff lengths that kind a match.Name: boat rig.jpg

I was in the same stituation as you and didn't want to have two different sets of poles for slow trolling and running cranks. So I always "push" cranks. I have one set of 14ft Denali's that I use for both methods. There are other options out there too if you don't go the Denali route...I have done the same with Ozarks and Southern rods in the past as well.

Too many rods is a good way to get rods broken. I use my longer cranking rods to rig with too. I have a snap swivel on the main line and when I rig I snap on a three way swivel and then use my rigging leaders and weights.
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.
