    Default At last!

My wife hasn’t ever been with me to pull crankbaits but is supposed to come with me tomorrow and Tuesday! Any suggestions on whether to try Sardis or Enid? I’m hoping to expand to Grenada sometime this summer but figure I better scout without her.

Sardis is pretty good right now. It’s just finding the areas that are holding the better fish.

Either should be fine, fish are in pitiful shape due to the on going high water. But should have enough action to keep the wife interested.

If we get to double digits for keepers we will be pretty happy!

Why are the fish in bad shape due to the high water?

Fish on Sardis just seem unusually thin to me this year. I've thrown back a good many 12 1/2" fish because there wasn't anything to them. Most the ones I've cleaned have very little in their stomachs. Figure the high water is making it tough for them on feeding, that and the competition for the food source. Can't speak for Enid, and Butla and Grenada fish seem healthy as usual.

Not sure if high water is the cause either but I do know that every fish we cleaned 2 weekends ago had nothing in their bellies.

The 12 I kept were all fairly thin. The 30-40 11 3/4” to 12” ones I threw back were probably much fatter! Talk about scattered I couldn’t figure out where to really target, saw plenty of bait fish though.

May try Enid tomorrow and see if I can tell any difference.

I pulled cranks at Sardis on Monday. Many of the fish I caught were also unusually thin with empty stomachs. I had more try to swallow the crank than usual. They're not getting enough to eat. Thinking about fishing Enid and Butla for awhile to catch some healthier fish.
