    Default Short pulling rod advice

I pull with 20 footers on the outside then 16 footers then a 6 footer straight out the back from my rod rack on the rear of the boat. I also pulled an eight footer off each side on single holders about 2/3 of the way towards the front of the boat. They worked great in tighter spots when the bimini top is up. I broke one at the end of last year. They were real nice fenwicks foam handles they don't make anymore. Designed for small walleye trolling Good backbone with a nice tip that gave off real good action. Found them at a swap show awhile back. Any suggestions for replacing them? Looking for the best 8 foot pulling rod around 50 bucks.

I've had good luck with my Jenko Cypress Creeks in 8 ft. You can get them for little over $20 bucks on their website.

I use BnM 8' ProStaff Tolling rods $32 at Grizzly Jig, they have the longer foam handles for rod holders. A couple of friends of mine have tried using the Jenko Cypress Creek rods and liked them, but could never find anyone who carried the tips for them once they broke one.

I second the 8' PST rods, I have been using them for 4 years now and have yet to break a tip. I've caught 8 to 10# cats on them as well as 4 or 5 pound drum. Tough rods for sure and at a good price!

Used the B&m pst for years. They have served me well. Also from posts here been testing some bm 410 rod. Done well so far. Swung a 15 inch crappie in with it with no sweat.

Thanks for the repsonses. I too use PST but only in the long rods which were well over 50 each. Never priced the short rods until today. I will be going with PSTs.

I run pst in the longer rods and their fantastic. I've hung up in heavy wind on 2 different occasions and broke 2 tips on the 10ft PSTs , now the long rods hung up as well but are beefier at tips , so they didn't break . In the 6 to 8 ft range I buy the crappie spinning rods that sportsman warehouse sells , and have been very pleased with them . Their around 15.00 each. Take the rest of that 100 you were going to spend and put it on more crankbaits.

For my short rods, I run 7' Berkley Cherrywoods from WalMart. They are about $24 off the shelf for the medium heavy action. They have good guides and cork handles with trigger.
