    Default Academy trolling battery

Don’t buy from them. They won’t honor the replacement warranty. The one I have is an Academy branded Excide. They make you file a claim with manufacture.

Thanks for the tip; hate you had a bad experience and an issue with a battery.

Think they shifted to interstate from exide and that may be the problem. Doesn’t make it any better for you but they should honor the warranty they sold you.

I agree with Cray.....especially since their Excide battery is branded Academy

I asked if that was the case but they said it’s the same policy for the Interstate batteries also.

I carried one back to Academy today(Tupelo ) and since they could not exchange they gave me a gift card for my old Battery . (I did have receipt. ) They now sell Interstate which you have to take to a excide dealer . For a refund they will . I already replaced mine so did not use gift card to replace but could have . Think it depends on who waits on you .

Sam's Club Duracell group 31 marine deep cycles for 100 bucks....group 29 marine cranking for 90 bucks....they handle the warranty too.

Interstate 29's at Academy boast a 210 amp hour rating at 25 amps. For $110 it's hard to beat. I wouldn't buy from them unless warranty or details were worked out or understood first. That's twice the reserve capacity of the old 31 group exides they used to stock and as well as the Duracells. I had interstates in my boat prior to the exides 31's or the new Deka's I bought earlier this year from Ellis Battery. The interstates would go 8 hours plus with more power to spare. Reserve capacity is a plus this time of year when most are pulling cranks at 1.5 to 2 mph. Hope interstate isn't dialing back quality to suit Academy, I've seen that before built to the sellers mediocre specs. Just throwing it out there 210 RC is pretty impressive for the price.

I just went to Walmart, they’ll take back anything. It was just the starting/electronics battery.
