Just my 2 cents....I would lean more to Minn Kota. I can’t say anything bad about Motorguide, but I personally think Mike Kota has the best technology.

Have been looking at the Motorguide Xi3 anybody running one right now? Any opinions on them? Also how does the pinpoint gps work? Is it worth the extra money to get the unit that has it?

Minn Kota for the win!
Even if I went with the MInn Kota, are the i-pilots worth the extra cash vs the co-pilot? I’ve always used foot control so going with these new units with remotes kinda scares me. Never have been in a boat, or used the hand held.

If money is not an issue, go with the Ultrex. That is the best of both worlds....cable steer as well as electric steer. You can use the remote or the foot pedal. And the foot pedal works just like what you are used to. If you are on a tighter budget, go with the Terrova. It’s remote control or foot operated as well but it takes a little to get used to the foot pedal. Still works really well, though. I just switched from a Fortrex to a Terrova a couple months ago and I really like it. Bottom line? If you fish around stumps, piers, etc. go with a cable steer. If you spider rig, long line of crank bait in open water, the electric steer is the bomb.

I’ve seen those but my budget I’m looking more into the power drive series. You can get them with co-pilot or I-pilot. Co-pilot comes with the Bluetooth foot pedal. I-pilot does not. Obviously co-pilot doesn’t have any of the gps settings as the I-pilot. I just don’t know if I want to get away from having that foot pedal option. I’m assuming the Bluetooth response on the foot pedal is not as good as the cable steers?

Well keep this in mind before you decide: you use the outboard for 10 minutes and the trolling motor for 10 hours. It’s a big investment but buy as much as you can afford. Trolling motor is the last place to skimp.

If you can’t afford the terrova, continue to save until you can. I learned the hard way. Power drive, then terrova, now ultrex. Buy once cry once. But at the end of the day, not sure I could fish without a remote control Tm anymore. I’d def go i pilot over copilot.
