I don't use the ethanol but I have an older motor which specified 90 octane no lead. That high octane is a butt to find but there are a few that carry it.

    Default Ethanol gas

When that regular gas gets water in the tank, what do you add to get rid of the water???? Alcohol products. Alcohol is a drying agent. It absorbs the water to let it pass out of the tank and engine.

I run straight ethanol in everything I own ( lawn mowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, ATV, Boats, cars, trucks, etc.). I used to buy into the regular gas thing, but itís simply not true EXCEPT in older engines where the fuel lines and pump diaphragms are not ethanol compliant. My toon sits up for 9 months of the year with ethanol in it. No Stabil. Starts and runs perfect every summer. ALL new 4 stroke engines are Ethanol compliant. No worries.

Not true. Oil in gas causes it to Varnish. It would take several years for gas to evaporate to the point of being oily sludge.

Some of the Mercury Optimax (2 Stroke EFI) Engines do call for high octane fuel to keep the engine from becoming an OptiPop or Poptimax. Ethanol gasEthanol gas

You can buy high octane Ethanol without an issue unless your engine is older style that Is Not ethanol compliant.

All i can tell ya is that when i bought my boat the guy before me ran ethanol in it the 10 or 12 times he had it out in 4 years. 4 stroke efi mercury. I replaced all the fuel lines in it because they all had a hose inside of the hose of what appeared to me to look like a dingy brown shellac. I blew some pieces out that were 10 to 12" long. All of my hoses were that way. May have been ethanol or may not have been idk but the only time I've seen it form like that was in the bowl of a carburetor and the jets.
You do and have worked on a lot more engines than I have but right or wrong I'm sticking with non. I guess I'm gonna fit into the 'ol geezer category. Help me! I've become my 'ol man.

In a lot of areas of the country, like mine, non ethanol is as rare as hen's teeth.
