    Default double minnow rig

I spend a lot of time in the winter getting ready for spring fishing. One of my projects is to rig a lot of double minnow rigs with different weights. I go from 1/2 ounce up to 2 ounce rigs. When I have one finished I put it in a quart storage bag by itself. After a few rigs I put all of them in a one gallon storage bag. Now if I do that with every different weight I end up with about 40 ready to go rigs. Only problem is I have one bag that is heavy, I was thinking I could make up 20 rigs with out any weight and use those weights that have the rubber tips sticking out the end. You could go from a 1 ounce rig down to 1/2 just by changing weights instead of changing the whole rig. I used some last year and it seemed to work ok. Any one else ever tried this?

I’ve tried those weights before. Even if you wrap them they will come off after awhile. I quit using them.

I have rigs I tied up and tested, still testing some every now and again. Involves using duo lock snaps and inline trolling weights. I can go from 1/2 oz, 3/4 oz, 1 oz etc. up to 3 oz in the matter of a few seconds. It makes it convenient to swap out weights, but I've grown partial to a sliding egg weight personally. With the ones I tied to test the weight is stationary. Will keep experimenting with them though, kind of forgot about em'.

Any particular reason why you use the sliding egg sinker instead of a fixed weight?

In my opinion when a fish bites up on the bottom hook the weight being able to slide may cause them to hold on for a millisecond longer, less resistance in my opinion over a fixed weight. Not a big issue when they bite real aggressive and put eyes in the water, but on a light bite it may give that little extra time you need to set the hook.

I was told having the sliding egg sinker as opposed to wrapped would not jerk the baits around as much in rougher/ windy conditions when the front of the boat has some bounce. Any thoughts on that??
