I was curious of the same thing. My first tournament will be at Okatibbee in December.

I just decided to join the Crappie club and I think my first tournament will be at Grenada. My question is with it being a 7 fish weigh in and state rules say I can catch 15. Can I keep 15 and turn in 7 at weigh in. Then carry the rest of my fish home. Do the 7 fish you weigh have to go back in the lake? I just see no reason in not bringing home some fish to eat. I have no expectations of winning so why not bring home some meat.

You are saying you will go to the dock with 22 fish. The conservation officer will ticket you for 7 fish over the limit. The only way this would be leagl is to have 2 people in the boat. Then the limit would be 30 fish per day.

I may have phrased it wrong but what I meant is can I keep the 7 fish I weigh in and go home with all 15 fish hopefully catch.

Or do we have to return all fish back to the water on tournament day

2 sets of rules apply when you decide to join a club. State rules AND club rules. If your talking about magnolia they will occasionally have a tank at Grenada to release the fish but other than that you are free to keep what you catch. Honestly the tournament trails are viewed as being harmful to the resource and some trails are releasing all the fish weighed in. Which in my opinion is exactly what needs to be done.
Your limit is 15 or 30 if you have a partner, you weigh your best 7 and you may keep them if you like.
