Glad to see you got on em while longlining. I don't know whether longlining or spider rigging is my favorite way to fish.

This fall I'm going to play around with putting a 1/2 ounce weight ahead of the jigs to shorten the length of line out and use line counter reels.

It's hard for me to get jigs down deeper than about 12-15 feet.

I caught them on jigs with the added 1/2 ounce weight while we were at Crankfest. We were pulling at 1.5 mph. That's faster than I would normally pull jigs but we were fishing with both crankbaits and jigs. When fishing above grass at home I have pulled jigs at 1.2-1.3 mph continously to keep them out of the grass, and worn them out.

That sure beat me on cranks today. I caught 86 on cranks with maybe 8 keepers. They liked 100 feet of line and 1.8 mph.
You are going to have to teach me the long lining some day.
Do you fish from the side like cranking or out the back? If out the back, how do you watch your depth finder?
    Congrats on the limit.

Off the sides just like cranking, shaft is too short on the trolling motor to stay on the back deck all the time.
