    Default Rod issue - Denali

I posted this in the main forum but thought it might be better suited here since I know a lot of you guys use them....

First of all let me say I am not one to just post negative things about a company....as you could see in my previous posts I am the first to compliment them as well. My intent for this post is to see if anyone else has faced this issue with the Denali Pryme series rods and if so, how it was handled.

I bought 6 new 14' Denali Pryme trolling rods about 9 months ago. To preface, my rods stay on my boat in a garage year round and I am lucky if I fish 2/3 times a month. I noticed a few months ago that some of the sections on the rods started to turn a "cream" color instead of the stark white they started out as. This has progressed into all the rods having slight varying color from white to cream colored in different sections. The rods perform great and I still absolutely love that about them, but the OCD part of me want them to be the same color...preferably the bright white they started out as. I have a picture on my phone but for the life of me I can't find it at the moment.

I contacted a couple of different people...one at the dealer I bought them from and one at Denali. The dealer said yes Denali had issues with the rods and had recently changed their process to correct it. The employee at Denali didn't come right out and say they knew of issues but said they had seen "some" change that had long exposure to sunlight. I then emailed the Denali warranty rep back and asked if they were covered under warranty and have not had a reply (3 days ago).

I know some would say, no big deal since they still fish the same, so what if they fade a little. My point is I paid $70 a piece for rods....that's a good chunk of change and I would think they should not fade to a different color in just a few months. So long story short......any of you other Denali guys out there have this issue and if so how did you handle it?

Been fishing with them that way for over a year, I prefer these rods over anything else and have just accepted it.
I do understand the frustration tho and they hopefully have it fixed, fixing to buy a new set of 14s

I am with you Rees....I absolutely love these over anything else I have fished with. From slow trolling minnows/jigs to pushing cranks with 2-3 oz weights they handle it all. But like I told someone else the other day....its kind of like spending a bunch of money on a nice pair of black dress shoes and in a month or two they starting fading and turning brown. Sure they still function the same and are still really comfortable but not exactly what you paid for. I will probably just learn to deal with it too.....just won't like it.

You haven't had a reply in 3 days. Wait until Monday and send them a new one, copy your old one and resend. Giving them a full week for a reply. If no reply by Wednesday send another, Monday and Wednesday for a week or 2 then start sending them daily.
We went to a store for some sales items. The sale wasn't run as the ad said it should have been. I complained to the company for 6 weeks daily. I didn't get what I wanted, but did receive a $100 gift card. The price of the main item we went after.

I noticed this issue as well with the 14s I bought last year, they seem to be getting darker and darker sitting in a covered shop. Could really tell the difference sitting next to the new pearl white 16s I got a few months ago.

I guess it won't be "as bad" when all of mine all finally fade to the same color....right now its a mixture of both.

I will say it is really nice to have a set of pole you can jig, longline, slow troll, power troll, or crank with. Denali is a very new company to the crappie industry and are doing changes to make there products better. From what I am hearing there will be more changes this year for the better. I do know some people that the ocd and color change got to them and they took a can of white spray paint to them lol. But all in all Denali is the best hands down I get a new set of 18 poles every year and will continue.

For me, I would want them to fade as dark yellow/brown as possible. Something that blends in really well with my surroundings. Y’all think my t-top is easy to spot? I can see y’all fishing those white flag poles from a quarter mile away on every hookset.Rod issue - DenaliRod issue - DenaliRod issue - Denali

I use 14s simply because they are easier on clients. Got 18s for my outside poles pulling jigs and cranking
