Wow, What a well photographed and documented vacation.Thank You Kindly for sharing.I am looking forward to seeing more of your work.
I recently had the opportunity to take a road trip to Mississippi from Florida. We worked our way along the Natchez Trace from Colbert's Ferry to Natchez and had a fantastic time. Lots to see and very relaxing. Along the way I was able to fish in several lakes and rivers including Bay Springs Lake, Pickwick Lake out of JP Coleman State Park, and Natchez Lake. Had a great trip and caught lots of bass and pan fish. Did not catch many crappie the only ones we caught were in water over 20 feet. We did the trip from mid May through early June. Below is the video of the trip, the Mississippi section of the video starts at 7:55 (previous part of the video covers the trip in Alabama.)

I have some friends who have a place on Pickwick, you can see the Natchez trace bridge from their dock. I've never caught a crappie near their place but the bass fishing is fantastic. Closest crappie fishing is probably Bear Creek.
I got 350 heads on a 305 engine.
I get 6 miles to the gallon.
