The number of short fish being caught is ridiculous. I've been having a catch to keep ratio of around 10 to 1. I enjoy catching fish, but I would like to take home more fish that are large enough to eat. I've went to larger crank baits, difference styles of bait (plastic jigs both large and small) and tried going deeper and more shallow and the dinks are still a problem. I believe the reason folks are catching large numbers of shorts to keepers is the shorts are taking to bait before the keepers have a chance to get to it. It may be time to lower the size limit for a year or two. Just my opinion.
I may be getting older but I refuse to grow up.

I hope they leave it alone. We've been through this before. In 2010 or 11 a fishing partner and I caught 107 and kept 3 one day. In 2012 you couldn't keep keepers out of the boat. Lots of 13/2" fish.
Tell'em I'll be there.
More places around your neck of the woods where 10" or under fish are legal to keep, closer to home, go fish there if your looking for fillets. I say let these biologist do their job and I for one would be more willing to go to a 13" slot limit as opposed to going to a lesser of 12" or better.

Try more Catch and Release. Very few people NEED all the fish they take.

How many of those shorts are mortally wounded or injured by careless release or unhooking? Just thinking out loud.

Just take time and patience trying to release them..ease them in the water..Don't treat them rough

Took me a while to figure out if you are catching way to many shorts (10-1) It is simple . move . The days of catching 25-30 in one spot ,while not completely unheard of is not the norm . I recently caught 66 on Sardis with 4 keepers . Some days are just that way . You can put odds in your favor by using total amount of poles possible . Same percentage will yield more fish . I will say though you can feed a lot of hungry fish daily . lol Since retirement my live bait bill has sky- rocketed .
