    Default Pushing VS Pulling

When to pull and when to push? I know you have better control pushing and can turn in less than 40 acres, but what are other advantages and dis-advantages?
I have tried pushing and caught fish but, have not done it enough to tell which catches more fish.

As far as catching more fish some days it does some it doesn't.
I only push in situations where it is tight, I prefer pulling 100 to 1 but that's just me. With that said, we pushed with good success over at Ferguson during the Crappie Masters Nationals last fall, pulling was out of the question with the tight ledges and the toothie critters.

I do both and the edge go's to pulling. Somedays a lot and some, they are the same.

Pull 4 and push 4. The fish will let you know which way to go. I’ve had lots of days where pushing out performed pulling and visa versa. On my toon, I always do both.

That's what I decided to do on my pontoon as well. I tried pulling 4 from each side and got tangled every time I caught a fish trying to bring it up the side through 4 poles. I am thinking a 9 and 16 on each side and 4 16s off the front. I bought 6 of the new B&M trollers for that.

I'd like to try pushing but on my pontoon, with all the stumps here on the Rez, sounds like a good way to destroy some trolling rods

I like swapping between the two to break up the monotony of it, I get bored real easily. One thing I like about crappie fishing is there are so many different techniques to catch them rascals, and I refuse to be a one trick pony.

I do both and catch fish both ways. One thing to remember, when you hook a fish pushing, net it or it will shake off 50% of the time. You dont get a good hookset and when the fish shakes with that weight above him......splash.
