I like the Seaguar Abrazx fluorocarbon, I use both 12# and 15# test. 15 is easier to see and a little stronger, but 12 is easier when tying knots of course. Cray turned me onto this line a year and half ago or so and I haven't used any other line since for rigs. It's durable and strong as all get out, a bit costly but a spool will tie a whole lot of rigs. P.S. not a fan of tying rigs with braid myself..

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.

Does anyone troll single minnows/jigs ? With eight poles out at various depths.. odds are still great. Personally I’m sick of breaking off double rigs . I’m slow at tying double rigs , and would rather spend my time doing something else. I’m probably going to try some single rigs Soon, doubt I’ll be disappointed.

Dutchman, get you some snell holders from TJ's tackle and have a bunch of spare double rigs made up and when you break off just grab a new rig and put it on.

I already do that . I personally don’t think it’s worth the trouble unless fishing tournaments but I’m fixing to find out . I’m going to single rigs with pinch on bullet weights . here in a few weeks, I bet I will be wishing I’d done it 20 years ago!!

Time would be against you if trying to fish tournaments , Would take longer to get a boat limit , maybe . It is done to save bait as well . I know a few that fish one hook per pole but they fish 5 days a week .

I got to where I fish a single jig or minnow in shallower water in the spring.
(Also, eagle1, I think your inbox may be full...)

    Default Double minnow rigs

There is no correct spacing. Shallow water rigs will be closer together. Deep water rigs are farther apart. Zero correct distance. Loooong drops in windy weather with rolling swells, etc. My usual rig has 1’ foot drops, and 2’ feet between the top drop swivel knot and the bottom drop knot, or swivel. I use a sliding weight with beads at the bottom drop swivel.

BRM is correct....no special way to to do it. I guesstimate when tying mine and try to keep them close to the same. 9 inch top leader, 22 inches to the weight, and 9 inches to the bottom hook. That gives you close to to 2 feet separation between minners and I think that’s kinda what you’re looking for. Obviously that is for deeper water, I don’t think you need that much separation between baits in shallow water. And by the way, if it’s windy swells, as he mentions, I stay to the house.
