    Default Questions bout trolling

Alright guys I'm fairly new at this "fast trolling" thing and have a few questions. I currently put four rods out the back of my pontoon. I use 12 lb mono and let out anywhere from 50-130 ft. of line depending on the fish.i am pulling 300 series bandits also. My question is how much of a difference does the 12 lb change the running depths from the bandit depth chart? I am guessing it probably doesn't change much, just not sure. I going to put some more out the sides eventually just want to work out the kinks first.

Not gonna effect it much, its all relative and needs to be repeatedable.

Even if the 12# did affect it, it's better to be above em than below em, good luck. Lots of trial and error in finding what works

Scientifically I don't know. All I know is 6,10,12 mono catches fish. Distance from rod tip height to water level makes a difference also. Just duplicate what works on your boat.

Thank y'all, I have been trying to nail it all down lately. It's just gonna take a little ( or a lot) more trial and error I guess. I have caught some fish doing what I'm doing just not the numbers I get when I slow troll. Guess that's what makes me question what I'm doing.

If it gives you any idea when the gnats hatched at Sardis last year is when the cranking got good, they hatched this weekend, I think it will only get better as it warms up. Hang tuff and put the seat time in and you'll get it.

That's a big advantage when using planer boards. Since the distance to the bait starts at the water, you can have much more accurate repeatability (think that's a word, lol) than having to calculate the distance of the tip to the water, especially if you are using different length rods or the rod holders are at different angles.

As far as using heavier line than the chart, I'd rather be a little higher than the chart says than deeper. From 10-12# there will be a difference, but not much. Main thing is being able to accurately repeat what catches fish for you on any given day.
