Been pulling with my 90 four stroke for 7 years now. Trolling plate gets it down to 1.3 to 1.5 most of the time.

No problem, just get an assortment of driftsocks so you can adjust to different condions/speeds and you will be good to go.:D

There's no problem with it being 2 stroke vs. 4, but there are some maintenance issues that need to be addressed with 2 strokes if you do much of it at all.

Biggest issue is carbon build up, which is more often than not, the cause of unexpected and untimely kablooeys from rings sticking. To fight this, use as clean of fuel as availabe and as good of oil as you can afford plus a fuel additive of your choice. Something like Ringfree or Seafoam on a regular basis - regular for me is in every drop run through it.

Plugs - check and clean them at least twice a year and carry spares. Some motors are worse about fouling plug than others.

Lower Unit - and this is with any motor - trolling puts a lot of hours on a motor quick - you probably ought to go to twice a year change out rather than just once a year.

Impeller - at low speed, you don't have the force of the water to help keep your motor cool. Make sure it's in tip top condition before you troll a bunch with it.

Blow out - It's a good idea to open the motor up after a long day of trolling just to help blow out any carbon that might have built up that day. Trolling right up to the ramp and shutting down won't automatically blow your motor up, but it certainly isn't good to let it stay in there until the next trip.
