    Default Northern Minnesota.

I was out yesterday on a small lake the water temp 46 deg . Skim ice in bays near shore. The smaller creeks and water filled ditches were froze over. Picked up a few Crappies . Very slow bite. Time to put the boat and lawn mowers away . Good chance of ice fishing by Thanksgiving if not earlier .

Temps are cold enough now to be making ice but weather forecast of 4 to 7 in more snow Thursday . It would be nice to have a good ice base so old duffers like me can drive out. Been having thoughts of early ice Walleyes on Lake Vermilion. Fishing memories again.

Wanted to try to get the boat out one more time, doesn't look good. That's what I get for buying a new boat late in the season. Oh well, let the winter begin I guess....

15' On the Iron Range this A.M. Looks like more snow later today. Got the boat put away and snow blower working. Could possibly be a repeat of last year had really good ice early then the snow started . Lakes were slushed up and hard to travel on. B52 you can send me a box of that 82 deg any time .

My 2019 notes say I was catching Crappies on 6 to 7 inches of good ice on Nov 15.
