Default 6/30 & 7/1 2018 report

Saturday my brother and I fished the lake ware he has a camper at a campground. The lake is 1600 acres with a Max depth of 13 ft. It is several miles long and narrow. It can be a all or nothing lake when if you find crappie, walleye, bass or sunfish they will be of quality size. We started about 4 pm and loaded up about 9 pm . Three quarters of the time was spent trolling jointed rapalas about 1 mph in 3-8 fow . Picked up one 14" catfish and had a few misses . We had 2hrs of light rain. Water temp was 80.

There is a rock pile that comes up to the surface and is one of the only pieces of structure in the lake. We spent the last hour anchored at the top and fished either a plain hook or a jig under a bobber and a leech . Picked up 3 LM bass. The rods and reels were nothing fancy. Fishing the crank baits was let line out till ya plow bottom then wind some in.

Sunday. Rained till noon and had strong NW wind with a good chop. This is the same lake my wife and I fished last week. Still a no wake in place. I started with my neice who is in kindergarten in my boat. My brother his wife and other younger daughter in his boat. I put out 2 lines with 3/8 sinkers and spinners with half a crawler in 15-20' of water. Put the rods in the holders, used trolling motors on the front and rear to hold course. In no time we had the first of many sheephead ( drum ) in the boat. I held the rod while she cranked them in . She thought we kept catching the same one over and over so she named it! I don't remember it's name. Went threw 2 dozen crawlers.

We caught a couple of 24" Pike along the way to meet up with her parents. And wanted the go in there boat. My sister in-law had the touch and put 4 walleye in the boat . She used a 1/16 or 1/8 oz parrot color jig and half a crawler. I switched and was keeping the pike at Bay getting bit off and re tieing. Got one 14 in walleye. It was 5:30 pm was all ran out of crawlers time to head back. I went through 3 doz.

Almost at the boat ramp I saw a red and white boat loaded on the trailer driving away to the right and there is something moving in the water between the docks. Then it happened the thing stopped at the dock and the boat went a little further then tipped over on it's side! They didn't pull in the float tube loaded the boat and drove away. The float caught the rope tightened and pulled the boat over. My brother and I beached the boats went over and helped. There were enough people we all layed it over lifted the front the trailer was lined up and backed under. The strap was attached with lifting cranking and backing, then pushing the boat was back on! Never a full moment at the ramp. This is the 2nd time I have helped load a boat off the ground at the ramp.
Thanks for reading!
