    Default Ice fishing trip questions.

I have a question.. my son (8) want to go catch a crappie in an “ice hole” 😂
We live in Mississippi so we ain’t never caught none in ice... out a lot on ice.. but we’re fortunate to not get all that winter weather down here. I have a few questions.
First what’s the best time frame on fishing on ice? Is March to late up there? And second, do y’all have any ice fishing guides that you would recommend?
And me a private messsge please if anyone has any information that would help me on this. Thanks in advance.

Also, I wouldn’t be against trading a trip if anyone in interested in that.

If you want to come to Michigan we could put you and your son on some crappie. I live between Lansing and Grand Rapids and we have a pretty good crappie lake a short drive away. Depending on weather, we sometimes have safe ice by Christmas and it can last well into March. The last two years have been warmer than normal so we never got real good ice on a lot of lakes. A bunch of the Michigan CDC members are going to get together this winter for an ice fishing day on a private lake so watch the Michigan page for more details. We would be happy to have you show up and fish with us.

Matt Breuer at North Country Guide service in Bemidji will put you on fish, and March is a great time of year to be on the ice.

To bad i wont be home. I know of a couple good crappie lakes you have to use snowmobiles and pull sleds to get to. I usually like to wait until i can drive on the lake of others with landings and drill holes and sit on the tailgate, makes it easier to move. I usually target deeper water all winter when i am ice fishing.
