It was a good club until it turned into a competition instead of FUN, FRIENDS and FELLOWSHIP!!!!!!!!!!
We are quickly approaching the end of the 2011 tourney fishing season with only 2 events left on the calendar. These two events will help determine our MTCC Angler of the Year. With being able to receive 45 points at each event, there are several members who can still be our 2011 AOTY.Hands Clapping J.W. Jackson is currently in the lead but there is several guys all in the hunt just behind him. As far as whats left on the schedule, we have Normandy on Oct 22nd and Woods Reservoir on November 19th.
As far as the Super Slab series goes, it’s wide open as well. The winner in each category is determined by the best 3 stringers added together, and their best three big fish caught throughout the year added together. I would still have to bet that our biggest stringer of 2011 will be caught this month, and possibly our biggest fish caught in 2011 as well. Normandy produced 3 fish last fall at the weigh-in that was all over or about 2¼ pounds each. There was several more fish caught that day that was up close to 2 pounds as well. If you think you would enjoy some friendly crappie fishing competition, you should come check us out. We are a small group of guys that enjoy crappie fishing, and we spend a good bit of time helping one another at our meeting with news, tips, presentations, how to’s, video presentations, books and videos donated to the club by members for other members to use, and also some time in the boat by some veteran fisherman who don’t mind taking and showing others how they catch fish. For more information, go to Middle Tennessee Crappie Club and check us out. We would love to have you join in on the fun.Thumbs Up

I'm with skeet, it want be me but we've had a good time at our tourneys.
You will become like those with which you associate.
I know that I sure have had a lot of fun this year as it has been the best ever. I have learned alot from the club members on ways that I would have never thought of. It is good to see us growing and having fun. The fact that membership has more than doubled indicates that people are interested and having fun.

I dont know who will win this year but they have earned it. Im sure that some of the fish were caught where another club member told them about and or was caught using a method shown them by another member. Competition is the part of fishing tournaments that makes you a better fisherman along with the information that is shared by the competitors before and after the tournament.

Some of you weren't around when I first came to the site, and the club was not yet formed. Had it not beem for folks like Fishawk, Fatboy, C1BigOCarp, and GCF I'd still be wandering around not catching much of anything. What they and others have shared with and taught me has made a big difference in my education. I'm with Trashtrout when he says it's what we share that makes a difference.

before joining the club i thought the only way to catch a crappie, was to fish a minnow under a float.boy has things changed for me,i now use most all methods, thanks to members in our local club, sharing info. at meetings as well as tournaments.i have found that in tournaments i actually focus on what i'm doing more so than when i'm just out fishing for the day.i like trying different techs.from time to time.i recently tried pulling cranks, not really knowing what i was doing,i discussed it with a few members of the club one night, and was told i was pulling to slow, and it seem to help out.

I'm about in the same situation as Tim was. I've been fishing up here for five years and had only caught one crappie in that time. But after joining the club and some "schooling" by a couple of the members during tournaments, my catch ratio has improved greatly.
It's a never ending process, but a fun one!
